Perhaps the largest independent research and development company on the surface of Techniconica, Frandor Technologies are always on the cutting edge of technological development. They have the leading experts in almost every field of scientific endeavour and their incentives can be quiet compelling.
Frandor Technologies is not a single company as such, although great pains are taken to ensure that it appears to those outside of the petty politics between research teams whom are constantly competing with each other for contracts that will pay for their research materials which can range from simple ores through to buying in vast numbers of humans to test their latest technologies upon.
Frandor District is little more `then a glorified research colony equipped with its own security force that has become increasing militarised in recent years due to overtures from Prain who have threatened to invade Frandor numerous times after several internal coups failed to take root.
The vast populous of Frandor are often kept in perpetual servitude to their intellectual betters, resulting in an informal caste system with the scientific research teams at the top and the Frandor military at their every beck and call.
There is no single area of research that the Frandor teams do not and have not engaged in and no individual technology or area of research is seen as taboo and if it is, such research is kept highly secret to prevent reprisals from those strong enough to actually challenge it.
Everything from cloning technologies to weapons research are routinely tested and active development continues on in the numerous research labs and workshops deep within the armoured walls of Frandor District.
One of the more notable research projects that have born considerable fruit within the recent generation was teleportation technology which has revolutionised the world of Techniconica. Gone are the days of sending expensive Mech couriers loaded down with expensive parts across the continents to deliver them to their intended recipients, they can now be send, almost instantaneously via teleportation portals. The only drawback with the technology to date is that they require exponential amounts in energy costs as the item(s) being teleported gets larger and larger which has been one of the major stumbling blocks preventing Mechs from being teleported into battle.
