Background

History

The Thunder pattern cockpit is a well-known and easily recognisable cockpit design that uses internal bracing energy fields to keep the structural strength high whilst keeping weight to a minimum.

The Thunder pattern itself saw extensive use during the First War, and the manufacturers have offered successive refits and development versions over the years, hoping to provide the pinnacle of Mech cockpit design.

Key Features

The cockpit itself also makes use of internal power generation to feed the constant energy needs of the cockpit field generators which are used to protect the forward observation windows.

The Thunder pattern offers one of the highest visibility of any Mech cockpit, offering near full 180 degree vision out of the front of the Mech. The pilot also has the option of fitting optional rear and side facing cameras which link through to internal monitors, giving the pilot a full 360 degree view of their surroundings.
