We're in the process of releasing the new 3rd wave of Mech cards.
Why Choose Techniconica As A Name For The Game?
You may be wondering why we chose the name we did for the game. Well, we chose Techniconica as the name for several reasons - the first being that it is unique to us and it is also the name of the planet the game is set on.
The idea was to name the game after the world where the game is set - rather than name it after the battle Mechs themselves - there is already a proliferation of "Mech" games based on various reincarnations such as the famous Mech Warrior series and countless other games with Mech in the name - and we also wanted to get across the idea that the world is still pretty high-technology, although even if the social nature of humanity clinging to life outside the Districts is little more fuedal in it's nature and structure.
Birth of a World
We originally begun planning the world for a long while before we created the game. We planned out the regions and writing the back story for the "Big Eight" Districts. We also started writing out the history of why humanity was there in the first place. We also created some wildlife to inhabit the world.
The Name Itself
When we were brainstorming ideas for the name of the world, we trialed several names, but ultimately decided on Techniconica because it was unique enough for us to use, even if it is a little on the long side.
Other possible contenders were 'Callixis', 'Raglor' and even more mundane names were considered, although these were eventually weeded out for a variety of different reasons - either they were a little too generic or couldn't really be trademarked further down the line (not that we have any plans to trademark it yet!).
So there you have it, let us know your thoughts on the name as we would love to read and hear your comments.
