Part In Focus:-
Otherwise known as a cluster munition, the Bombardier Missile is designed to overfly its target before exploding, sending hundreds of smaller bomblets down onto the primary target. The mssile itself is not the primary method of destruction, but the large blanket of explosive bomblets.
Bombardier Missiles are not a new concept in modern military and have been used by military as far back as Old Earth where cluster munitions were used extensively in warfare.
Each Bombardier Missile carries 132 smaller bomblets which are launched from the missile when the primary carrier explodes above the target – raining down the smaller bombs onto the target. This increases their effectively damage potential as not only are the bomblets designed to be explosive, but they are designed to penetrate armour a short distance before exploding themselves.
Each missile is usually guided to its target by the operator using a variety of different technologies including wire guided, radar, laser designation or simply as blind, dumb munitions fired by a skilled Mech pilot.
Whether it is guided or not, each missile is a single use munition that once fired cannot be replaced.
